Kate Weare Receives The Joyce Theater's 2014 Creative Artist Residency
Supported by The Mellon Foundation, This Residency supports the Creation of a New work to be presented by The Joyce in 2015-16
I am happy to announce my second Creative Artist Residency from The Joyce Theater. The first time I received one of the theater's two annual Mellon Foundation Awards supported the creation of our lush and lively Garden which I created in 2011.
The Creative Artist Residency includes an unrestricted grant of $25,000 to go towards expenses for the creation of a new work. Our new dance will be presented as a New York premiere by The Joyce Theater as part of its 2015-16 season.
The Joyce residency also includes 240 hours of rehearsal time and the services of a dedicated rehearsal assistant and choreographic advisor of our choosing; As it becomes exceedingly more difficult to find resources for the choreographic process, having time and space to rehearse and seed funding for a new production is a gift.
We look forward to sharing what we conjure and try on this year.
