KWCo FILM

In 2019, KWCo began our first foray into the world of film. As a longtime choreographer, immersing myself in a new medium has been no fast or easy task. These last few years have been full of ideas, experiments, revelations and a steep climb into new learning. Now I can begin sharing our journey with you!

I found a lively collaborator in photographer and filmmaker Jack Flame Sorokin. Jack’s work reflects a fascination with humanity’s relationship to land and environment. Our experiments in film have been a galvanizing source for me in a new form.

Following the remarkable success of our first film, Landfall, we’re excited to share our new films with you. Moth, the second film we've entered into the festival circuit, features stunning performances from Nicole Vaughan-Diaz and Kendall Teague and is already screening in France, England, and Asheville and Austin in the U.S.

We’re hard at work on other films such as our Portrait Project, a series profiling the lives of dancers. We’ve filmed Julian De Leon, a NY-based Filipino-American contemporary dancer, Risa Steinberg, a legendary modern dancer, teacher & mentor to famous choreographers, and South Side Chicago dancemaker, Kia S. Smith, during a liminal moment mounting her very first large-scale work; all fascinating artistic subjects.

To watch all KWCo films and more, donate $5 or more for a year of on demand access to The Screening Room.

Thank you for joining our exciting journey into film!
