Bright Land, 2010

Bright Land is a 50-minute work comprised of short dances set to old time string band music and played live by renowned SF-based band, The Crooked Jades. Featuring the Kate Weare Company dancers accompanied by five extraordinary musicians from The Crooked Jades, this unprecedented collaboration exposes the cyclical nature of human experience with piercing, powerful choreography and fiery, soulful live music. Bright Land pays homage to the emotional undertakings of many generations - kinship, belief, suffering, love - that shape us each in our own lifetime, and repeat in cycles through the ages.
